Here's a picture of the Comet for sale here in town. Guy wants $6k obo, sign says it's one of 84 in that variant - which isn't described on the sign but black roof and extra chrome are present. Also, there was this nearby:

Now that is a great looking car. Seems to be a solid price for a good driver

Too new for 6k.
He is (hopefully) leaving room for negotiations.
That's probably mid 70s, like a 74 or so.
Which means it's choked by emission controls.
Looks like it's in great shape though, maybe 4500-5000.

My view is to watch out when someone describes a car like this as 1 of 100 or so. Early fuel-injected Corvettes and Camaros, rare Roadrunners, Barracudas, Chargers, Challengers - these are things of value? A Comet? Eh.

You're gonna rip out whatever mill is in it. If its a clean car that needs no body work or paint, 6k is worth me just working on oily bits.

Comet

It's definitely '74+, given the chrome stripes and big bumper. That being said, apart from replaced speakers on the back deck the interior looks all original. It even has the original Maverick/Comet dealership sticker in the window behind the passenger door - which tells me it's seen barely a minute's sun in its life.
That being said, I don't think it's a $6k car, but it's worth about as much as a '74 Comet could be, I'd think.

Nice body for someone who really wants to resto-mod a modern engine into... other than that, CP? Ugly colour too.

For the man who wants a Maverick Comet in stock form, it'd be near impossible to find a nicer one. Who that man is, I have no idea -and he's probably a lunatic. In the broad sense of "is there somebody to whom this is worth that", it's not a resounding CP, but it comes with requiring a very weird bird to actually want it.
FTR, I like the orange.

Yeah like I said I see that being a 4500-5000 car, no more.
Looks solid as hell though

Yeah the perfect body and most likely interior is a plus, i just don't think a mid-70s Comet even in great condition is worth more than 5k.
I bet this car would be a beast if you dropped a big block in it though lol.
Maybe go lighter with a 351C

yeah just because it's a crazy weird combination of options doesn't necessarily mean it's a GOOD combination of options. If they were good options, maybe more people would have ordered them lol.
I'm all for a Comet, especially in great condition like this. I just think it's a tad over priced.
I'd rip out the motor for an upgrade though. Or at least do some serious work on it to wake it up
